You are trying to open a Web page that is not available on your hard disk, and you are not currently connected to the Internet.
Pages are available in Offline mode only when they have already been opened and stored in your Temporary Internet Files folder or downloaded for you to read later.
By choosing to stay in Offline mode, you can save money, because you are not connected to the Internet, and time, because Web pages open faster from your hard disk.
If you decide later that you want to work online again, click the
File menu, and then click
Work Offline to remove the check mark beside it.
Tip
You can tell whether a page you're about to visit is available for offline viewing before you try to open it:
- If the page is available, your mouse pointer looks like a hand.
- If the page is not available, your mouse pointer looks like a hand with a barred circle beside it.
